[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit conducted an investigation of the accuser in relation to the case of filing charges against the prosecutors in charge of the Daejang-dong case and the Seongnam FC case.
On the afternoon of the 1st, the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit summoned Lee Jae-won, chairman of the Lawyers for Human Rights and Unification of Korea (Hanbyun), to the Government Gwacheon Complex and questioned him for about an hour.
Hanbyun filed charges on February 3rd against Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo, Seoul Central District Prosecutor Lee Jung-soo, Seoul Central District Prosecutor Kim Tae-hoon, and Suwon District Prosecutor Seongnam Branch Chief Park Eun-jung for dereliction of duty and abuse of authority at the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit.
Hanbyun claimed that they violated the Criminal Procedure Act, which stipulates that "investigations must be completed within three months from the date the complaint is accepted," while handling the investigations of the Daejang-dong and Seongnam FC cases.
