According to the Office of Education on the 1st, this occasion-based education was carried out through discussions and consultations among school members in response to Japan's recent forced revision of distorted history textbooks.
The occasion-based education will be promoted in various forms, including ▲subject-linked classes related to issues such as Dokdo invasion, forced labor, and Japanese military comfort women ▲broadcast education ▲classes using occasion-based education materials produced by the Office of Education.
Banners condemning Japan's historical distortion will also be posted at institutions under the Office of Education and individual schools to widely publicize the Office's active response and demands for improvement toward Japan.
In particular, the booklet "Stories of Democratic Citizens Met Every Month," directly developed and distributed by the Office of Education, contains content that empirically refutes Japan's concealment of invasion and atrocities, which is expected to be effectively used to cultivate students' historical awareness.
Meanwhile, on the 30th of last month, Superintendent Jang Hwikuk expressed a firm opposition to Japan's invasion atrocity history textbooks and issued a statement urging immediate correction.
Superintendent Jang said, "Our Office of Education continuously promotes projects to eliminate pro-Japanese remnants in the education field linked to curriculum operation, projects to inherit the spirit of the student independence movement, operation of the Dokdo Exhibition Hall experience program, and history education visiting schools to instill correct historical awareness in students," adding, "We will continue to actively oppose the publication of Japan's distorted history textbooks and claims of sovereignty over Dokdo and strive to promote truthful history education to enhance students' historical consciousness."
