[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] On the 1st, Jeonbuk Namwon City announced that it awarded commendation certificates to two volunteer barbers at the ‘Namwon Love Harmony Day’ rehabilitation exercise room.
The awardees, despite being busy with their work running barbershops located within Namwon City, have shown volunteer spirit by visiting the rehabilitation exercise room at Namwon City Public Health Center for over 10 years since 2013, providing haircut services to more than 1,400 homebound disabled individuals.
In particular, through their haircut volunteer work, they created a social atmosphere of inclusion with homebound disabled people who have difficulty going out due to mobility issues, and contributed significantly to providing opportunities for recharging, economic convenience, and community-centered rehabilitation as part of the community health promotion project, for which they received commendations on this day.
A city official said, “We thank them for their dedication and practice of neighborly love and interest in the disabled who are marginalized, by inspiring rehabilitation will through sharing time with neighbors,” and added, “We ask for continued cooperation so that the sharing time with neighbors can be sustained.”
Meanwhile, Namwon City Public Health Center operates various programs such as the rehabilitation exercise room for social adaptation and rehabilitation of disabled people, consultations with rehabilitation medicine specialists, and self-help groups, and will continue to make great efforts to ensure that disabled people can live without inconvenience as members of society.
