[Asia Economy Kang Wooseok, Intern Reporter] A woman in her 30s who concealed her employment status and received unemployment benefits was sentenced to a fine.
The Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 5 (Judge Han Yoonok) sentenced Ms. A, a woman in her 30s accused of violating the Employment Insurance Act, to a fine of 2 million won on the 1st.
Ms. A was indicted on charges of fraudulently receiving a total of 8.77 million won in job-seeking benefits seven times from June 2020 by hiding her employment status.
The court stated the reasons for sentencing, saying, "Considering that the defendant admitted to the crime and is remorseful, returned the entire amount of the fraudulently received unemployment benefits, and is a first-time offender, a fine was imposed."
