[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lotte Homeshopping's self-developed virtual model ‘Lucy’ will promote the movie ‘Super Sonic 2,’ scheduled to be released on the 6th.
Lucy is a virtual human developed by Lotte Homeshopping through its own specialized personnel as part of its metaverse business. She is a 29-year-old model majoring in industrial design and a design researcher. Since starting activities on social media (SNS) in February last year, she has become an influencer with over 70,000 followers. Beginning with collaborative marketing with famous domestic and international F&B brands, fashion platforms, and jewelry brands, Lucy has expanded her activities to become the promotional model for Lotte Homeshopping’s mega shopping event ‘Gwangclejul’ and a show host, establishing herself as a leading virtual influencer in Korea. This time, she is also participating in movie promotion, expanding her activities into the entertainment field.
Super Sonic is the first live-action movie of the character ‘Sonic’ from the video game ‘Sonic the Hedgehog,’ released in 1991. The upcoming ‘Super Sonic 2,’ opening on the 6th, features new characters such as ‘Tails’ and ‘Knuckles’ in addition to ‘Sonic.’ Lotte Homeshopping released photos on Lucy’s official Instagram showing the virtual human ‘Lucy’ introducing Sonic and his friends from space to various landmarks of Korea’s Lotte World Tower. The scenes include visits to the world’s tallest glass-floor observatory ‘Sky Deck,’ the ‘Aquarium,’ and the ‘Cinema,’ among other attractions of the World Tower. Lotte Homeshopping is holding the ‘Lucy X Super Sonic 2 Collaboration Commemorative Event’ until the 6th (Wednesday), where customers who follow Lucy’s Instagram and leave comments on the movie promotion posts will be entered into a draw to win movie tickets for ‘Super Sonic 2.’
Jinho, head of Lotte Homeshopping’s Digital Business Division, said, “Lucy, who is gaining attention as a virtual influencer, is expanding her range of activities by taking on movie promotion following her roles as an advertising model and show host. We plan to advance Lucy’s movements and voice expressions to a human level and nurture her as an icon leading the metaverse market.”
