Construction of Digital Convergence Automotive Parts Innovation Support Center... Completion in 2025
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province has designated the foundation of the local industrial ecosystem as the 'advancement of automotive industry technology' and decided to promote related projects from this year until 2025.
The province announced on the 1st, "Under the supervision of the High Technology Research Institute, innovative institutions and universities within Gangwon Province will collaborate to support the transition to future vehicles and technology advancement projects for small and startup companies."
They also plan to establish facilities such as future vehicle parts manufacturing equipment that can be shared among companies, digital twin systems, and equipment for parts testing, analysis, and prototype production.
Based on improving the performance of future vehicle materials and parts and technological innovation, the plan is to lead the restructuring of the automotive industry and ultimately foster the future vehicle parts industry.
They will comprehensively support the development of automotive materials and parts elements based on digital convergence and establish evaluation and certification systems to enhance the global competitiveness of related companies.
To this end, by 2025, a total project cost of 17 billion KRW (6 billion KRW national funds, 11 billion KRW local funds) will be invested to build the 'Digital Convergence Automotive Parts Support Center' on the campus of Halla University in Wonju City.
Previously, the province secured 6 billion KRW in national funds by applying for a government public project budget necessary for the center's construction.
The center's construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year after detailed design and approval procedures, with completion planned for the second half of next year. Related equipment will be sequentially established by 2025.
A provincial official stated, "To transition the automotive industry to the future vehicle industry and create future growth engines, we will foster a sustainable future vehicle industry ecosystem by nurturing specialized personnel, creating jobs, and attracting related companies and research institutes."
