[Public Officials' Asset Disclosure] Average Assets of Senior Legal and Prosecutorial Executives 2 Billion KRW... Highest is '5.6 Billion' No Jeong-yeon

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Senior officials of the Ministry of Justice and the prosecution were found to possess an average wealth of 2 billion KRW.

According to the '2022 Regular Asset Changes of Public Officials' disclosed on the 31st by the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee, the average assets of 52 individuals subject to asset disclosure in the Ministry of Justice and prosecution positions were calculated at 2,033,550,000 KRW. This is slightly less than last year's average of 2,041,290,000 KRW.

There were 24 people who owned high-value assets exceeding 2 billion KRW, and 40 people whose total assets were over 1 billion KRW. Among them, No Jeong-yeon, Chief Prosecutor of Changwon District Prosecutors' Office, had the highest assets at 5,637,610,000 KRW. This increased by about 100 million KRW from the 5,539,640,000 KRW reported last year. The impact of owning high-priced real estate was significant. Prosecutor No reported owning real estate worth a total of 3,980,000,000 KRW, including apartments and offices under his and his spouse's names.

Deposits under the names of himself, his spouse, and children also increased by about 1,460,000,000 KRW from last year, totaling 2,730,000,000 KRW. Minister of Justice Park Beom-gye reported assets of 1,300,000,000 KRW, an increase of about 40,000,000 KRW. Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo reported 1,710,000,000 KRW, and Lee Jeong-soo, Chief Prosecutor of Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, reported 3,290,000,000 KRW. Shim Jae-cheol, Chief Prosecutor of Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, reported 190,000,000 KRW, the lowest among prosecution officials.
