[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education has secured an additional 34.5 billion KRW in project funds related to the Ministry of Education's Green Smart Future School initiative.
The Office of Education carefully reviewed the Ministry of Education's guideline stating that "private investment project funds not announced within the year cannot be carried over or reallocated" in order to secure the insufficient project funds needed to reflect the increase in the number of classes and prior planning details.
To secure private investment project funds that other city and provincial offices of education could not proceed with and were scheduled to return, meetings were held over three months with the responsible managers and officers, and frequent consultations were made with Ministry of Education officials by phone to check feasibility.
The Office of Education requested the Ministry of Education to prioritize the allocation of 34.5 billion KRW for six buildings and received confirmation of reallocation on the 25th.
The secured project funds will be used for reconstruction work at Nongsog Middle School and Cheongnyang Middle School, where an increase in the number of classes is expected.
Nongsog Middle School is increasing from 18 to 29 classes, and Cheongnyang Middle School from 8 to 22 classes, and difficulties were anticipated due to insufficient project funds caused by an increase in total floor area during reconstruction.
With the additional 34.5 billion KRW allocated by the Ministry of Education, the project will be promoted as a 2022 Build-Transfer-Lease (BTL) type private investment project, scheduled for completion in the first half of 2025.
A Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education official stated, "Through proactive administration, we will continue to improve educational conditions so that students can continue learning in a comfortable and safe environment."
