[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] A man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, who threw a soju bottle when former President Park Geun-hye moved into her residence in Daegu, has been arrested by the police.
Judge Cha Yoon-jae of the Daegu District Court Western Branch issued an arrest warrant on the 26th after a pre-arrest detention hearing for Mr. A, citing "risk of flight."
On the 24th at 12:18 PM, Mr. A threw a soju bottle at former President Park Geun-hye as she arrived at her residence in Yuga-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu, and was immediately apprehended by the police at the scene. The soju bottle, which contained liquid, shattered and fragments flew within 1 meter of former President Park, but no one was injured.
The police applied charges of attempted special injury against Mr. A and requested an arrest warrant. It is reported that Mr. A committed the act because former President Park Geun-hye did not apologize for the People's Revolutionary Party (Inhyukdang) incident.
Meanwhile, the April 9 Unification and Peace Foundation, an organization commemorating the victims of the Inhyukdang incident, issued a press release on the day of the incident stating that Mr. A has no connection to the victims of the Inhyukdang incident.
