'Along with the Gods' and 'The Book of Fish' Music Director Bang Jun-seok Passes Away


Film music director Bang Jun-seok passed away on the 26th at the age of 52. Bang had been battling a recurrence of stomach cancer since the fall of 2020 and died on the morning of the 26th. The funeral hall was set up at Samsung Seoul Hospital in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The funeral procession will take place on the 28th at 3:30 PM, and the burial site is Kensico Family Cemetery in New York State, USA.


The deceased, who lived in the United States, formed the band U&Me Blue in 1994 with singer Lee Seung-yeol. They released albums such as "Nothing's Good Enough" and "Cry...Our Wannabe Nation!", introducing modern rock bands to Korea.


After the band disbanded in 1997, he devoted himself to composing film music. He brought life to numerous films as a music director, including "Oh! Brothers" (2003), "The Showdown" (2006), "Radio Star" (2006), "The Throne" (2015), "Lucky" (2016), "Anarchist from Colony" (2017), "Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds" (2018), "Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days" (2018), "Ashfall" (2020), "Mogadishu" (2021), and "The Book of Fish" (2021). He established his position as a music director and was recognized with trophies in the music category at major film award ceremonies such as the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards, Blue Dragon Film Awards, and Grand Bell Awards, also earning accolades for his works.
