Blitzway Invests in Content Fever... 'Leap to a Comprehensive Content Company'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Blitzway announced on the 25th that it will acquire the drama production company Content Fever.

Content Fever is a company founded by CEO Kim Ji-woo, who produced SBS drama "Vagabond" and JTBC drama "Monster." It is currently producing "Speed to You 493km," which will premiere on KBS and Disney Plus on the 20th of next month.

A company official explained, "Considering the airing of 'Speed to You 493km,' we requested a prior name change from Content Fever to Blitzway Studio."

Blitzway will acquire convertible bonds worth 3.8 billion KRW issued by Blitzway Studio. If the convertible bonds are converted into common stock, Blitzway's shareholding ratio will be 36.7%, securing the position of the largest shareholder.

Blitzway Studio will newly appoint Bae Sung-woong as CEO of Blitzway. The company will change to a dual CEO system with Kim Ji-woo and Bae Sung-woong. Blitzway plans to reflect Blitzway Studio's production sales in its consolidated performance.

The entertainment industry is paying attention to the writers at Blitzway Studio. The company has signed contracts with multiple writers capable of collaborating with online video services (OTT) such as Netflix and Disney Plus.

Recently, Blitzway Studio signed a contract with writer Yoo Bo-ra of the JTBC drama "Person Who Resembles You," starring Go Hyun-jung. They also signed additional work contracts with writer Heo Sung-hye besides "Speed to You 493km." Contracts were made with writer Jang Hong-cheol of MBC's "Doctor Lawyer," starring So Ji-sub and scheduled to air in the first half of this year, and writer Jung Yoon-mi, who has been preparing OTT dramas since winning the runner-up prize in the 2018 KBS one-act play script contest for "Mother's Family."

An official said, "All four contracted writers are recognized for their solid story development and captivating narratives," adding, "We will lay the foundation to grow into a content studio."
