A man in his 60s who had been punished seven times for drunk driving was sentenced to prison again after drinking and getting behind the wheel.
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] A man in his 60s, who had been punished seven times for offenses including drunk driving and driving without a license, was sentenced to prison again for driving under the influence.
The Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 2 (Judge Park Jeong-hong) announced on the 25th that it sentenced Mr. A, a man in his 60s who was tried for violating the Road Traffic Act, to eight months in prison.
The court stated the reason for sentencing, saying, "Severe punishment is inevitable," but "considered that the blood alcohol concentration was not very high and the driving distance was not long."
Mr. A was indicted for driving about 50 meters on a road in Eonyang-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan, last June at night with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.093%.
According to the investigation, Mr. A had a history of being punished seven times, including suspended prison sentences, for drunk driving or driving without a license, yet committed the same offense again.
At the time of this crackdown, Mr. A was still under the probation period related to drunk driving and was driving without a license.
