[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee announced on the 25th that it held the ‘2022 1st Practical Meeting of Related Agencies’ on the 24th, attended by officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

The meeting focused on ‘Safety Measures for Women, Children, and Adolescents,’ during which various cooperation plans between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency were proposed and discussed. To protect children and adolescents who are victims of prostitution, the city, police, and dedicated support agencies agreed to establish an organic response system and mutually cooperate to provide consistent protection and support, including counseling systems at all stages of discovery, investigation, and post-management of victims.

Additionally, to prevent crimes such as stalking, which are increasing daily, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency agreed to actively cooperate in promoting the city’s emergency support project for safety equipment for stalking crime victims.

Furthermore, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency requested cooperation in operating the ‘Our Neighborhood Traffic Safety Facility Improvement Council,’ which involves police stations, local governments, and residents, as well as in promoting the ‘Neighborhood Backstreet Traffic Facility Inconvenience Intensive Reporting Period.’ In response, the Seoul Metropolitan Government pledged to actively cooperate to ensure that issues reported during the intensive reporting period are appropriately addressed and facilities improved.

Kim Seong-seop, Secretary-General of the Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee, and Song Byeong-il, Co-Chairman and Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, stated, “As the autonomous police system approaches its first anniversary, we will do our best to discover and implement cooperative policing policies in the fields of women, children, and adolescents that citizens can feel.”
