Geochang-gun Selected for 6 Cultural Arts Promotion Support Projects in Gyeongnam Region

Geochang Cultural Artists, 5 Individually Selected Achievements Stand Out

Geochang-gun Selected for 6 Cultural Arts Promotion Support Projects in Gyeongnam Region Geochang County Office.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Six projects by artists and art organizations from Geochang-gun were selected in the 2022 Gyeongnam Regional Culture and Arts Promotion Support Public Contest by the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Promotion Agency.

At the beginning of this year, the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Promotion Agency accepted applications for the 2022 Gyeongnam Regional Culture and Arts Promotion Support Project from cultural artists and art organizations in Gyeongnam.

A total of 1,200 applications were received across basic art fields including veteran artists, emerging artists, literature, visual arts, performance, and multi-disciplinary arts. After screening by the agency, 370 projects were selected to receive a total support of 1.364 billion KRW.

On January 7, the county invited officials from the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Promotion Agency to hold an explanatory session about the agency’s public contest at the Geochang Cultural Center for local art organizations and artists. Through active response, 2 projects in the veteran artist field, 3 in visual arts, and 1 in multi-disciplinary (art books) were selected. Individual selections increased significantly to 5 projects compared to 1 last year.

Jo Ho-kyung, Director of the Culture and Tourism Division, said, “This year, more individuals were selected than organizations, which we believe will help local artists overcome economic difficulties during the challenging COVID-19 period and strengthen their creative foundations.”

The Gyeongnam Regional Culture and Arts Promotion Support Public Contest supports creation and presentation activities for professional art organizations and artists. The projects selected this year are scheduled to be carried out until December.
