[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) opened the 'Peacecho Park,' a 5,118㎡ site renovated from idle land near Darakwon Sports Park at 1-8 Dobong-dong, to residents starting from the 21st.
'Dobong-gu Peacecho Park' is the first public institution facility designed to enable outdoor music performances without sound equipment, completed in December 2021. Located next to the Peace Culture Base, this facility commemorates the noble sacrifices for peace made by 16 countries that participated in the Korean War, embodying the meaning of singing and dancing for peace together on the site bearing the remnants of war.
This outdoor music hall, shaped like a sunken round bowl, is an eco-friendly structure that amplifies sound sources solely through sound reflection without any acoustic equipment. It was installed by receiving the sound reflection patented technology free of charge from UR Culture Park Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Hyung-ho), the owner of the technology.
Peacecho Park expands the scope of performance culture by extending vocal and opera performances, which were limited to indoor spaces, to the outdoors, and is expected to provide various stages for residents who have felt a thirst for performances due to COVID-19.
The facility operates from March to November and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for free access. For safety reasons, entry is restricted during nighttime and rainy weather. If individuals or groups wish to use the performance hall, applications will be reviewed and approved based on public interest according to park regulations.
Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, "With the completion of Peacecho Park, the capability of 'Cultural City Dobong' has been further strengthened. We hope that Peacecho Park, an eco-friendly outdoor music performance facility, will become a cultural hub where local cultural artists gather and interact."
Meanwhile, to commemorate the opening of Peacecho Park, Dobong-gu has prepared an 'Opening Commemorative Concert' at 2 p.m. on March 26. The concert, lasting about 90 minutes under the themes 'Dancing Peace,' 'Singing Peace,' and 'Resonating Peace,' will feature anti-war and peace-wishing performances such as a dance flash mob to the Ukrainian singer Jamila's song '1994' and a solo performance of 'Spring of Homeland' by Ukrainian conductor Salo Sergey.
On January 6th of this year, Park Seong-su, the district mayor, toured the planned site for Korea National University of Arts in Songpa-gu with the university attraction promotion committee members.
Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Sung-soo) has officially launched a preliminary feasibility study service to attract the Korea National University of Arts (Korea National University of Arts, hereafter K-Arts).
Park Sung-soo, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, "This service is a measure to effectively prepare for consultations with related organizations such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Campus Construction Committee, including Seoul City and the release of the Greenbelt (GB). We will promptly proceed with the service to proactively respond by establishing a master plan for attracting K-Arts."
Currently, the district has designated 445-11 Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, as the planned relocation site for K-Arts and is actively working on attraction activities.
The service's task area covers 467,985㎡, including the planned site of 120,000㎡, to comprehensively verify Songpa-gu's suitability as the optimal location for attraction.
The tasks are broadly divided into five categories: ▲ Investigation of regional conditions ▲ Review of Greenbelt release cases and feasibility of Greenbelt release and urban management plan changes ▲ Establishment of a green campus blueprint reflecting the characteristics of an arts university ▲ Preparation of ecosystem impact mitigation measures such as biodiversity conservation management plans ▲ Analysis of ripple effects including annual investment plans and financing methods.
The district plans to promptly proceed with this service and submit the attraction proposal to related organizations such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Seoul City in a timely manner.
To ensure the success of attracting K-Arts, the district is also strengthening the capabilities of the Pan-District Resident Attraction Promotion Committee (hereafter the Promotion Committee).
To this end, on March 16, the district established an environmental subcommittee within the Promotion Committee. Composed of seven ecological environment experts from the Green Songpa Committee, Green Seoul Citizens Committee, and the Korean Climate Change Association, the environmental subcommittee will provide advice on the release of the Greenbelt at the planned attraction site. Additionally, 30 more resident subcommittee members will be appointed to foster resident consensus activities.
Furthermore, the district is continuing multifaceted efforts with residents to attract K-Arts. It has established a standing advisory group, signed a business agreement with the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations, and formed agreements with Gangdong-gu and Hanam City to strengthen internal and external attraction foundations. In particular, Park Sung-soo, Mayor of Songpa-gu, has taken the lead in attraction activities, including meetings with Minister Hwang Hee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and strongly urging Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon for Greenbelt release.
Mayor Park Sung-soo emphasized, "The relocation of K-Arts to Songpa-gu is a sure way to enhance national competitiveness as a century-long plan for Korean culture and arts beyond the development of the two institutions." He added, "We will devote more efforts with residents to ensure that the efforts made so far for attraction bear valuable fruit."
Seocho-gu announced that it will recruit and operate the '2022 Seocho-gu Youth Job Camp' starting this month, providing young people struggling with employment due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic with opportunities to gain diverse job experience alongside current employees of companies.
The 'Seocho-gu Youth Job Camp' was newly established this year to offer opportunities to participate in actual projects in fields such as marketing, finance, design, and distribution, reflecting the survey results from last year where 'internship support' was the top request from local youth job seekers to resolve employment difficulties.
Accordingly, the district selected 10 companies in popular fields among youth, including public enterprises, finance, distribution, gaming, and marketing, to provide practical experience. The prospective companies include LG Electronics, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Woori Bank, KT, Amorepacific, Netmarble, McDonald's Korea, and Coupang.
The camp will be conducted online via the ZOOM platform in a non-face-to-face format. Each company will hold one session; from March to April, two companies will be held twice a month, and from May to October, one company will be held once a month on the second week, totaling 10 sessions.
The recruitment target is youth aged 19 to 34 residing in Seocho-gu, with 15 participants per session, totaling 150 participants. Overlapping applications are allowed, enabling participants to gain diverse experiences by joining projects from different companies.
The detailed program runs with 'Basic Job Design with Current Employees' on Tuesdays and 'Project Feedback Day' on Thursdays. Topics vary according to participating companies' characteristics, including ▲ Understanding E-commerce Business ▲ Big Data Utilization in Telecommunications & IT Industry ▲ Global Marketing Strategy Analysis in Consumer Goods & Distribution ▲ IT Job Analysis in the Financial Sector.
The program process involves analyzing jobs with company professionals on Tuesdays and assigning customized projects to job seekers. After completing the projects, participants present on Thursdays and receive personalized feedback from company professionals.
A district official said, "To get a job at a desired company, information and practical experience are crucial, but such opportunities are scarce. We expect this job camp to serve as a stepping stone for youth to experience various practical tasks and receive 1:1 career counseling with current company employees as mentors, bringing them closer to employment success."
The job camp began with the first session featuring Baedal Minjok and started on the 15th. Recruitment for the second session is open until the 27th, with sessions at Lotte Corporation on the 29th and 31st. Subsequent recruitment periods will be separately announced on the Seocho-gu Office website by session.
The district is also recruiting for the 'Youth Media Creator Training Course' until the 27th for young people aspiring to become creators. The education will be conducted both online and offline, covering basic courses such as video shooting and editing, channel creation, advanced shooting and editing skills, and copyright studies.
The recruitment target is youth aged 19 to 34 residing in Seocho-gu, with 20 participants per session for the basic course and 10 for the advanced course. Final candidates will be selected through a first-round document screening and a second-round non-face-to-face interview. The course will start next month and run until October.
