KAMCO Opens 'KAMCOBRARY 30th Branch' in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province

Opening of the Second Camco Library in Pyeongtaek City Following Suwon City in Gyeonggi Region
Remodeling of Local Children's Center and Donation of 500 Books, 5 Years of Reading and Cultural Support

[Asia Economy Reporter Shim Nayoung] On the 17th, KAMCO held an opening ceremony for the small library 'KAMCOBRARY 30th Branch' at the 'Happy Home Bang Jeonghwan Regional Children's Center.' KAMCOBRARY is a compound word of 'KAMCO' and 'Library,' representing KAMCO's flagship educational social contribution activity, where KAMCO remodels outdated spaces within regional children's centers to create small libraries in order to improve learning environments and support reading activities for children and adolescents.

The 30th branch of KAMCOBRARY is the second library established in the Gyeonggi area, following the 14th branch opened in Suwon City in 2017. The opening ceremony was attended by KAMCO President Kwon Namjoo, Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jangseon, and Yoon Shinil, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Province branch of the Korean Red Cross, among others, to celebrate the opening.

KAMCOBRARY selects regional children's centers in need of improved reading environments through a public recruitment process conducted jointly by KAMCO and the Korean Red Cross, considering factors such as the degree of facility deterioration and the number of children using the center.

For the opening of the 30th branch, KAMCO remodeled the space to provide children with a comfortable environment for reading activities, replaced and installed furnishings such as desks, bookshelves, and internet TVs, and donated approximately 500 recommended books for adolescents.

Over the next five years, KAMCO plans to systematically support book purchases (about 2,000 books), reading guidance, and cultural experience activities. Additionally, various social contribution activities will be carried out, including workplace experiences for children and adolescents using KAMCOBRARY and talent donations by KAMCO employees.

Since 2015, KAMCO has established a total of 30 KAMCOBRARY locations nationwide, supporting approximately 52,000 books and about 8,900 hours of reading guidance programs, striving to provide learning support and quality reading environments to children and adolescents in cultural and educational blind spots.
