[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The 2022 Tongyeong Creative Triennale exhibition opened on the 15th.
Park Jonghun, Superintendent of Gyeongnam Office of Education, served as co-chairman of the exhibition organizing committee, and the Gyeongnam Office of Education is hosting the exhibition as a cooperating institution.
The Tongyeong Creative Triennale is an integrated arts festival led by elementary, middle, and high school students. Triennale is an Italian word meaning 'every three years.'
Held every three years, this year's Tongyeong Creative Triennale is held in conjunction with the 2022 1st Tongyeong International Triennale at Tongyeong RCE Sejatra Forest.
The event was planned to cultivate artistic expression, creativity, and convergent thinking based on cooperation with the local community, and to establish and practice a cultural arts education system with new forms and content.
Under the theme of 'Connection,' this exhibition features participation from elementary, middle, and high school students, faculty, and professional artists, showcasing over 170 works including paintings, designs, and sculptures over 52 days from March 18 to May 8.
It includes 34 award-winning works from student contests, 30 works by students from Changwon Arts School, 32 invited works by faculty, and 16 sculptures by seven famous domestic artists including Seong Baek and Moon Byungtak displayed in the outdoor exhibition hall.
Starting with the opening ceremony, experiential events such as the creative camp with artists 'Let's Play with Art, Learn While Playing,' multicultural exchange camp 'Co-creation: Differences and Similarities,' art play 'Playing Like Art, Art Like Play,' and art concert 'Creative Art World with Invited Artists' will be held.
The art play experiences will be held daily from March 22 to May 7, except Mondays when the venue is closed, featuring activities such as rubbings on T-shirts, flawless wood experiences, folk painting landscape making, recycled art, and wire crafts on different days.
Applications for the art play experiences can be made on the 2022 Tongyeong Creative Triennale website, and the exhibition works can also be viewed online.
A Gyeongnam Office of Education official said, "It will be an opportunity to enhance understanding and development between students and local residents, and between schools and the local community," adding, "We expect it to be a place that expands the educational field and perspective to the local community."
Superintendent Park Jonghun said, "We will support safe operation by paying attention to the spread of Omicron," and added, "We hope the community shares and diversely experiences free and creative art education opportunities centered on creation and experience."
