[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] ‘Kretec Chaegim,’ a specialized industrial tool distribution platform company, has generously donated 150 million KRW.
Recently, 100 million KRW was given to the Daegu Community Chest of Korea, and 50 million KRW was donated to the Korean Red Cross.
Headquartered in Daegu with a logistics center in the Seoul metropolitan area, the company’s purpose in offering such a large sum is clear.
The company and its employees have united in support of wildfire-affected areas and the war-torn land of Ukraine.
On the 8th, Kretec Chaegim donated 100 million KRW to the Daegu Community Chest of Korea as relief funds to aid recovery efforts for wildfire damage in the East Coast regions including Uljin in Gyeongbuk, Gangwon, Gangneung, and Samcheok, expressing their wish to help the disaster victims.
On the same day, 50 million KRW was delivered to the Korean Red Cross to be used as relief support for refugees caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Kretec, a local Daegu company, has extended a warm hand to overseas refugees facing hardship and domestic disaster victims.
A representative of Kretec Chaegim explained, “We wanted to ease the pain of Ukrainian refugees who lost their homes and are in distress, as well as residents affected by domestic wildfires.”
Founded 51 years ago this year, Kretec operates through ‘Kretec Chaegim,’ focused on machine tools, and ‘Kretec Welding,’ a company specializing in welding safety products. It is known as the largest industrial tool platform company in Korea.
Kretec is also renowned as a socially responsible company, not just for pursuing corporate profits. Every year at year-end, they rush to help the underprivileged. They observe disaster sites with the keen eye of a hawk, filled with compassion.
Warmth was delivered to the Pohang earthquake, Seomun Market fire, the 2011 Japan earthquake, the 2013 Philippines floods, and the 2018 Indonesia earthquake sites.
In 2020, they readily donated 100 million KRW as a fund to overcome COVID-19. The disaster relief fund was also 100 million KRW. Whether large or small, disaster and accident sites worldwide have been places of sharing for Kretec.
Since the company’s founding in 1971, it has upheld the corporate philosophy of ‘taking responsibility for customers and society,’ a history now spanning 51 years. It is rare to find a company that includes such social ‘responsibility’ in its name. Under the name ‘Kretec Chaegim,’ they run their business while seeking out the pains of people worldwide.
