The United States is assisting Ukraine in response to Russia's invasion through weapons support, cyber operations, and lobbying groups in Washington, according to the New York Times (NYT) on the 6th (local time).

The United States and NATO member countries have supplied over 17,000 anti-tank weapons, including Javelin missiles, to Ukraine by land since Russia's invasion. These anti-tank weapons reportedly played a role in repeatedly halting the advance of Russian tanks in the early stages of the war.

The United States is considering providing Poland with F-16 fighter jets in exchange for Poland transferring Russian-made MiG-29 fighter jets, which Ukrainian pilots can operate, to Ukraine.

Support is also being provided in various information and cyber domains. The NYT reported that a "cyber mission team" is secretly operating around Eastern Europe, disrupting Russian cyberattacks and communications. U.S. and German intelligence agents are said to be identifying the locations of Russian forces through satellite imagery and signal interception, then relaying this information to the Ukrainian military.

Additionally, law firms and lobbying groups in the United States are assisting Ukraine through pro bono publicity and legal support. The major law firm Covington & Burling filed a free lawsuit on behalf of Ukraine at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), demanding an immediate order to halt Russia's illegal invasion. Lobbying groups are also persuading Congress on behalf of the Ukrainian government to impose more sanctions on Russia, the NYT reported.
