Chungkang College of Cultural Industries and Bigster Co., Ltd. Sign Industry-Academic Cooperation Agreement to Train Digital Art Content Experts with Minglemint

Chungkang College of Cultural Industries (President Hwang Bong-seong, hereinafter Chungkang College) announced that it has signed an industry-academia cooperation MOU with Bigster Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Hyun-jong) to foster experts in digital art content.

The industry-academia cooperation MOU, held on the 4th at Chungkang College campus located in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, mainly focuses on jointly planning and collaborating on programs necessary for the composition and operation of NFT-based digital art content.

In particular, both parties agreed to actively cooperate in issuing NFTs of works by Chungkang College students, conduct talent development education necessary for the advancement of the cultural content industry, and jointly promote the shared use of facilities and resources as well as cooperative projects for industry-academia collaboration.

Bigster operates MingleMint, known as the Korean version of OpenSea, which is the only domestic NFT marketplace based on Korean won payment that applies blockchain technology without using cryptocurrency.

Chungkang College recently has a precedent where students successfully exhibited and sold NFT-based works using blockchain technology online, and is known as a university proficient in digital content-based creative activities, actively conducting various industry-academia collaborations to build an online ‘metaverse’ environment.

It has signed industry-academia cooperation agreements with SM Entertainment to strengthen competitiveness in the metaverse and cultural content industry, and established a curriculum based on the content production and service platform ‘PROJECT MOD’ with Nexon Korea, which will be offered as a major lecture in the Game Content School.

President Hwang Bong-seong of Chungkang College said, “Based on this industry-academia cooperation agreement with Bigster, we expect to further expand students’ experience in digital art content production and strengthen the substance of the educational curriculum.”

CEO Lee Hyun-jong of Bigster expressed his intention, saying, “We plan to provide NFTs to Chungkang College students through MingleMint and have them use these as digital student IDs. We also want students themselves to become creators and gain experience in issuing and trading NFTs.”

Meanwhile, Chungkang College of Cultural Industries, established in 1996, is the first specialized college in Korea focusing on cultural industries. Through differentiated content major education in areas such as games, webtoons, web novels, and convergent content, which were not covered by traditional universities, it nurtures diverse talents across the cultural industry sector.
