Jinju City Supports Educational Expense Subsidies for Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, and High Schools This Year

Jinju City Supports Educational Expense Subsidies for Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, and High Schools This Year Meeting of the Education Expense Assistance Deliberation Committee.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, will provide 5.34 billion KRW in educational expenses to 144 kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools through the Jinju Office of Education.


Based on the project plan approved by the Educational Expense Subsidy Deliberation Committee in September last year, Jinju City received project proposals from schools at all levels and the Jinju Office of Education starting in January this year, reviewed their feasibility and budgets, and finalized the support.


The main contents of the educational expense subsidy project include ▲ 2.6 billion KRW for program operation support to improve students' academic performance and self-development ▲ 1.5 billion KRW for safe and healthy educational environment improvement projects ▲ 880 million KRW for kindergarten snack expenses and support for care personnel during vacation periods ▲ 360 million KRW for purchasing educational equipment to respond to rapidly changing educational environments. This represents a 7.9% increase compared to the previous year.


The small school support project, newly supported since 2022, is a plan to revitalize small schools in rural areas by supporting distinctive curricula tailored to local conditions, aiming for mutual development between schools and communities.


The Gyeongnam Vocational Education Innovation District project supports vocational high schools operating aviation-related curricula to cultivate excellent personnel and promote employment for high school graduates.


The Jinju Office of Education will receive 1.5 billion KRW to support six projects including ▲ native English assistant teacher invitation and utilization project ▲ elementary and middle school physical education gifted student development project ▲ elementary swimming practical education project ▲ gifted education center experiential learning operation. Additionally, 300 million KRW will be provided for the Happy Education District project, which supports the happy growth of children based on the local community with schools and residents working together.


A city official stated, “Although there are many difficulties in the education sector due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Education and local government will cooperate to discover educational projects and create a continuous and stable educational environment.”


Jinju City is promoting various educational support projects such as educational expense subsidies for schools at all levels, free school meal support, new student uniform purchase support for middle and high schools, free high school education support, and Gyeongsangnam-do education support projects (voucher projects).
