[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Won Hee-ryong, head of the policy headquarters of the People Power Party's election campaign, criticized presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol by saying he "lacks tact." He gave this answer when asked on MBC's current affairs program '100-Minute Debate' to point out the 'weaknesses' of the candidates from both major parties. The audience burst into laughter at Won's candid response.
On MBC's '100-Minute Debate,' Won Hee-ryong and former director of the People’s Livelihood Foundation Yoo Si-min were asked by a citizen commentator, "Please tell us the real weaknesses you want the (two major party presidential candidates) to fix, without mixing in non-weaknesses."
Won was the first to speak. Regarding candidate Yoon, he said, "Having observed him closely, I found many limitations. Who doesn't have weaknesses?" He added, "What I really want to warn against is that once he gains some confidence, he becomes too reckless. So I think he needs to apply the brakes a bit."
He continued, "Because up until now, he has come this far by confronting the powers that be or former presidents without showing any tact."
In response to Won's answer, former director Yoo pointed out the citizen commentator's question, saying, "Didn't they say not to do that?" This was a critique against explaining weaknesses while dressing them up as strengths.

Won then said, "Then I'll try again," and candidly answered, "You all know this, right? He lacks tact toward others, like spreading his legs or putting his shoes up on train seats." The audience burst into laughter upon hearing Won's remarks.
Won added, "Sometimes he lacks situational awareness or tact, so he acts too comfortably according to his own convenience," and confessed, "I think this is a weakness that can cause misunderstandings."
Former director Yoo also pointed out the 'weakness' of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate. He said, "(Candidate Lee) calculates gains and losses too quickly and accurately," adding, "A leader sometimes needs to know how to take a loss."
He continued, "A leader should have moments where everyone thinks, 'Why are they doing this even though it’s a loss?' But such moments are rarely seen because he is excessively perfect."
Won then teased, "You’re crossing the line a bit now," and Yoo admitted, "Ah, I shouldn’t say this, but it sounds like bragging about a spouse."
Won said, "Whether it’s criticism or praise, I think the same way. The intelligence (which Yoo mentioned as Lee’s weakness) should not be used for self-calculation, manipulation of others, or distortion of reality," adding, "Sometimes it’s necessary to be stubborn, take losses, and pretend not to know even when you do. I empathize with what you said honestly in that regard."
