[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City will establish a Busan-type quarantine system and provide the second round of quarantine support funds following the government supplementary budget. It will also actively allocate available resources to eliminate blind spots among vulnerable groups.

Despite challenging financial conditions this year, including a decrease in real estate transactions, the city is steadily advancing the establishment of the 'Busan-type quarantine system' announced on the 24th of last month by utilizing available resources such as funds and contingency reserves.

The city plans to promptly allocate finances to compensate small business losses and eliminate blind spots among vulnerable groups in accordance with the government supplementary budget.

A total of 30.2 billion KRW will be invested in operating the Busan-type quarantine system.

To establish a rapid diagnostic system for confirmed cases, temporary screening clinics will be additionally installed and operated at Dadaepo Incineration Plant in Saha-gu on the 3rd and at Gudeok Stadium in Seo-gu on the 8th. Support will also be provided for securing rapid antigen test kits and additional personnel wages at public health centers.

The city will provide 'Health Management Sets' that can be used by general management groups and home treatment patients if needed.

Incentives will be given to maternity medical institutions where confirmed pregnant women are hospitalized, and focused support will be provided to strengthen care for confirmed cases, including operating a pediatric dedicated medical consultation center.

The city will ensure smooth support for emergency employment stabilization funds for vulnerable groups such as special employment workers in blind spots, as well as loss compensation for small business owners under the government supplementary budget.

The local government matching amount of 49.6 billion KRW for the national funds of 1.0397 trillion KRW secured through the government supplementary budget has been secured through the Disaster Management Fund and Disaster Relief Fund.

The city will promptly allocate ▲1.13 billion KRW for living support expenses for self-quarantined individuals ▲7 billion KRW for diagnostic kits for vulnerable groups ▲600 billion KRW for small business quarantine support funds ▲approximately 40 billion KRW for loss compensation blind spots such as taxi and bus drivers and cultural artists.

Additional city funds will be invested in operating Dongbaekjeon, maintaining a 10% cashback on existing usage and a monthly recharge limit of 500,000 KRW despite reduced national support.

The Good Landlord Support Project, budgeted at 400 million KRW this year, will be increased to 2.4 billion KRW using funds to reduce the burden on small business owners struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “As this is a time when the city’s finances must serve as a support pillar to prevent citizens’ lives from collapsing, we will continuously discover and strongly implement support measures for citizens affected by COVID-19 and other issues.”
