Seoul Metro "Immediately Requested Advertising Agency to Revise Ad Design Upon Recognizing Inappropriate Design, Immediately Removed the Ad Until Revision"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seoul Metro explained regarding the issue of an inappropriate design included in a birthday advertisement for an idol girl group member displayed on the lighting billboard at Samsung Station on Line 2, "This advertisement was submitted through an advertising agency, and upon the agency's request for review, the Metro approved it as a commercial advertisement on February 28, and it was scheduled to be displayed on the Samsung Station billboard from March 1 to 31."
They continued, "As soon as we recognized that the design included inappropriate elements, we immediately requested the advertising agency to revise the advertisement design, and until the design was modified, the advertisement was promptly removed."
The Metro added that in future advertisement reviews, they will conduct thorough examinations to exclude advertisements that go against public sentiment and will carefully scrutinize designs to prevent social controversies.
