[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Seven Eleven announced on the 25th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization to promote and revitalize domestic tourist attractions and franchise stores using digital technology.

This agreement aims to introduce major tourist attractions and cultural heritage sites nationwide and contribute to revitalizing the local economy. Seven Eleven will serve as a promotional assistant for regional attractions recommended by the Korea Tourism Organization through a partnership with the global augmented reality (AR) game Pok?mon Go. Starting from the 1st of next month, more than 11,000 franchise stores nationwide will designate 1,000 major tourist sites selected by the Korea Tourism Organization as Pok?Stops and Gyms in Pok?mon Go.

They will also carry out strategic alliance marketing with the Korea Tourism Organization. The Korea Tourism Organization’s website, Korea Travel Online, will provide location information of nearby Seven Eleven stores along with the major tourist sites. Additionally, a stamp tour connecting tourist attractions and Seven Eleven stores will be jointly promoted.

A Seven Eleven official stated, “Together with the Korea Tourism Organization, we will strive to widely promote our country’s attractions through fun games, making it easier for people to access tourist sites, and furthermore, practice ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities that contribute to revitalizing the local tourism economy.”
