Gyeongbuk Yeongcheon-si Maintains No.1 Employment Rate Among Gyeongbuk Cities

Youth Employment Rate Hits Record High at 40.7%

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Yeongcheon City in Gyeongbuk was ranked first among cities in Gyeongbuk for the fourth consecutive year with an employment rate of 67.3% in the second half of 2021.

According to the '2021 Second Half Regional Employment Survey' announced by Statistics Korea on the 22nd, the number of employed persons in Yeongcheon City was 60,200, and the employment rate was 67.3%, an increase of 0.9% compared to the same period last year.

The unemployment rate was 1.9%, down 0.8% from the same period last year, showing that job creation achievements were made despite the employment crisis caused by COVID-19.

The employment rate increased across all age groups, and especially the youth (ages 15-29) employment rate recorded the highest figure of 40.7% among cities in Gyeongbuk Province.

Also, compared to the first half of 2021, the employment rate rose by 1.3%, and the unemployment rate also increased by 0.3%.

This is seen as the result of Yeongcheon City implementing various job projects and active corporate support policies despite difficult conditions.

Yeongcheon City received the Grand Prize in the '2021 Job Creation Performance Evaluation' hosted by Gyeongbuk Province, being selected as an excellent institution for two consecutive years.
