Democratic Party Rep. Gominjeong Mentions Yoon Seok-yeol Prosecutor General Appointment Approval Briefing
"I Want to Erase July 16, 2019"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The People Power Party issued a statement on the 21st saying that they believe people would want to erase May 10, 2017, the day the Moon Jae-in administration took office. This response came after Go Min-jung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, mentioned that Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, would want to erase the briefing from July 16, 2019, when he was appointed Prosecutor General under the Moon Jae-in administration.
On the same day, Go referred to the July 16, 2019 briefing announcing Yoon’s appointment as Prosecutor General via social media (SNS), saying, "At that time, I believed he was someone who had eradicated corruption and would complete prosecutorial reform," adding, "But that belief turned into betrayal, soaked in lies and hypocrisy. If I could, I would want to erase July 16, 2019, entirely."
In response, the spokesperson office of the People Power Party’s presidential campaign headquarters said, "The past five years of the Moon Jae-in administration saw the collapse of law and principles, and the disappearance of fairness and common sense," pointing out failures in real estate policy, the COVID-19 crisis, and divisive issues.
They continued, "The people would want to erase May 10, 2017, the inauguration day of the Moon Jae-in administration, which betrayed the people by ousting candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, who stood against the shameless forces that colluded with that regime to divide interests," adding, "Together with candidate Lee Jae-myung, who has announced a 'Moon Jae-in administration Season 2,' the people will erase it entirely through a stern judgment on March 9, 2022."
