Gochang-gun Increases Coverage Amount for 'Citizen Safety Insurance'... Up to 20 Million Won

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, is increasing the coverage limit of the residents' safety insurance for one year starting this month to help stabilize the lives of residents who suffer unexpected accidents.

According to the county on the 17th, the residents' safety insurance is a system that protects residents from unpredictable risks such as disasters and accidents in daily life.

The coverage targets all residents registered in Gochang-gun (including registered foreigners) who are automatically enrolled without a separate application, and it features overlapping coverage regardless of other insurances.

The coverage items include 16 categories such as death by natural disaster injury, disability or death by explosion, fire, or collapse injury, disability or death during public transportation use, disability or death by agricultural machinery accidents, with coverage up to 20 million KRW.

In particular, the death coverage for agricultural machinery accidents has been expanded from 15 million KRW last year to 20 million KRW this year.

Last year, there were 9 insurance claims (5 cases of disability from agricultural machinery accident injuries, 2 cases of death from agricultural machinery accident injuries, 1 case of disability from explosion, fire, or collapse, and 1 case of death from infectious disease), totaling 59.5 million KRW in compensation.

All Gochang residents who have suffered damage from disasters, accidents, or crimes can inquire and claim at the dedicated accident processing window of the Korea Local Finance Association's Citizens' Safety Mutual Aid Project with relevant supporting documents (mutual aid claim form, accident certificate, etc.).

Insurance claims expire if not filed within 3 years according to Article 29 of the Citizens' Safety Mutual Aid Rules.

A county official said, “We will focus administrative capabilities on practicing a safety-oriented county administration that serves residents, prioritizing their safety.”
