[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Get hit by crow droppings while visiting Ulsan and get paid? A fun event where unfortunate travelers earn 50,000 won will be held in Ulsan.
From February 21 to March 6, a two-week event called the "Lucky Crow Droppings" will take place, where travelers from other cities and provinces, excluding Ulsan residents, who get hit by crow excrement in Ulsan will receive compensation.
On the 16th, Ulsan City announced that it will promote the "Honey-U Project to Make Ulsan a Fun City" to create a more enjoyable city.
The "Honey-U Project to Make Ulsan a Fun City" is a joint initiative by Ulsan City and the Ulsan Public-Private Cooperation Support Center.
Ulsan is seeking solutions to the regional issue of limited entertainment options and is discovering various ideas to transition from an industrial city to an ecological, cultural, and tourism city.
This project is systematically conducted through processes including ▲citizen-wide idea contests, ▲selection of excellent proposals, ▲idea living lab implementation, ▲policy formulation based on ideas, ▲project proposals, ▲project execution, and ▲evaluation.
This year, after the idea contest and selection of excellent proposals, the Public-Private Cooperation Support Center and the Ulsan Regional Problem-Solving Platform will conduct living labs on the selected proposals. The results will undergo policy evaluation and be proposed as policy projects to relevant departments.
Details on how to participate in the idea contest and procedures will be announced later.
As part of the "Honey-U Project to Make Ulsan a Fun City," the program "Lucky Fun City, Lucky Crow Droppings Ulsan Travel" will be held first. It will take place from February 19 to March 6 around the Taehwa River National Garden.
Organized by the Ulsan Public-Private Cooperation Support Center, this project will run two programs in the Samho and Taehwa areas of the Taehwa River National Garden: ▲Lucky Crow Droppings event and ▲Ulsan Fair Travel.
The "Lucky Crow Droppings event" will be piloted for two weeks from February 21 to March 6, targeting tourists visiting from other cities and provinces except Ulsan residents, considering the current number of large-billed crows and the COVID-19 situation.
The first 400 applicants will receive a kit consisting of a large-billed crow raincoat and other items. Participants can freely explore the Taehwa River National Garden, and if they get hit by crow droppings during the crow experience, they will receive a 50,000 won coupon.
Posting a certified photo with the large-billed crows against the backdrop of the National Garden on SNS will earn the first 100 people a 20,000 won coupon.
Coupons can only be used at stores near Samho and Taehwa and are valid until March 27.
Ulsan City plans to evaluate the pilot operation's results, address any issues, and officially operate the event when the large-billed crows return at the end of this year.
The Ulsan Fair Travel fam tour will be held over two days, February 19 and 20, recruiting 15 opinion leaders each from other regions, including residents, tourism industry workers, journalists, and travel bloggers. The program includes making large-billed crow umbrellas, visiting the Ulsan Migratory Bird Promotion Center, and watching the large-billed crow flock dance.
This event aims to develop tourism products considering both the environmental aspects of large-billed crows, such as their calls and droppings, and the tourism aspects like their flock dances. The goal is to preserve local residents' lives and culture while establishing infrastructure to protect the natural environment.
An official from Ulsan City said, "With the recent opening of the Donghae Nambu Line metropolitan railway and the city art museum, we plan to discover various items with other cities and provinces to provide more entertainment options for the increasing number of visitors."
