[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Medithink, a medical augmented reality (AR) wearable company, has been selected as a promising company leading the healthcare market.
Medithink announced on the 15th that it was selected as one of the 'Top 10' in the Medtronic Asia-Pacific Innovation Challenge (MAIC) hosted by Medtronic, a global leader in medical devices. It is the only domestic company among a total of 323 innovative companies participating from the Asia-Pacific region.
A Medithink official said, "We were the only domestic company to enter the Top 10 in the challenge hosted by Medtronic," adding, "The high growth potential of the medical wearable display market and Medithink's excellent technology and business feasibility were highly evaluated."
Medtronic is a medical device company that provides advanced medical devices and solutions to treat more than 70 diseases including heart, neurological and spinal disorders, and diabetes. It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and as of the 11th, its corporate value reached $138.5 billion (approximately 165 trillion KRW).
MAIC is a challenge where Medtronic forms various partnerships with startups in the digital healthcare sector in the Asia-Pacific region, supporting network building, overseas market development, and joint medical device development. The top five companies advancing to the final round receive a prize of $200,000. They also receive business opportunities to collaborate with Medtronic to enhance healthcare-related technologies and businesses.
A Medithink official stated, "We will advance to the final round next month and showcase Medithink's technological capabilities to the world," adding, "We will continue to grow as a company leading the healthcare market by improving surgical convenience and efficiency."
Medithink is developing medical AR wearable products based on its proprietary image processing and wireless transmission technologies. During surgical procedures, high-definition videos captured through smart glasses are transmitted in real-time to display devices used by medical staff.
