Artainment company Ray Village and Grim Green plan a special exhibition every early New Year featuring the animal symbolizing that year, collaborating with leading domestic artists. For 2022, the Year of the Black Tiger (Im In Nyeon), they are hosting the third installment of the Amulet art project titled ‘Amulet_Horyeongjeon_Awakening the Tiger’ through four themes: original artworks, digital exhibition, metaverse, and NFT exhibition.
This exhibition, centered on the mystical energy of the tiger, delivers messages of hope and encouragement to the entire nation while supporting the 2022 Korea National Football Team in partnership with the Korea Football Association’s Football Love Sharing Foundation. Following the 2021 ‘Amulet_Uhaeng Exhibition’ themed on the Year of the Ox, featuring artists such as Ha Jung-woo, Koo Jun-yup, Woo Guk-won, and Ha Ji-won, this marks the third edition of Korea’s first art series project.
The exhibition will be held sequentially in Seoul and Busan. In Seoul, from February 22 to March 9, original artworks will be displayed at Gallery One in Cheongdam-dong, and digital works based on originals can be viewed at Starfield Hanam. Simultaneously, a metaverse exhibition space will be established, allowing visitors to experience the exhibition virtually. Additionally, the exhibition includes an NFT showcase, reflecting a major recent trend in the art world. In Busan, from March 11 to 31, visitors can directly experience both original and digital artworks at Busan Shinsegae Centum City.
‘Amulet_Horyeongjeon_Awakening the Tiger’ brings together beloved artists from various genres both domestically and internationally. From the planning stage, it has attracted significant interest and proposals from diverse fields including IT, fintech, entertainment, and gaming industries, beyond just the art sector. This large-scale art project combines painting, pop art, installation art, media art, and artainment, featuring leading mid-career and prominent Korean artists. A total of 38 representative artists from various fields participate, promising a diverse artistic experience.
Participating artists include Korean painting master Park Dae-sung, along with Kang Hyung-gu, Kim Sun-doo, charcoal drawing master Lee Jae-sam, media art pioneer Lee Yi-nam?dubbed the ‘second Nam June Paik’?and Jang Seung-hyo. Also featured are Heo Hoe-tae, founder of Imography, live drawing pioneer Kim Jung-gi, pop artists Artnom and Charles Jang, as well as Woo Guk-won, Kim Jung-sun, Jung Yeon-yeon, Kwon Hyun-jin, Quaya, Jeon Byung-sam, Hong Kyung-taek, graffiti first-generation artist Koma, and artainers Koo Jun-yup and Kim Gyu-ri. This project’s fusion of art and entertainment is expected to draw attention with various events.
‘Amulet_Horyeongjeon_Awakening the Tiger’ is co-hosted by artainment companies Ray Village and Grim Green, organized by the Korea Football Association Love Sharing Foundation and BTC Communications Co., Ltd., and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, LG Electronics, Starfield Hanam, and Busan Shinsegae Centum City. This exhibition is an artainment project combining art and entertainment to support the 2022 Korea National Football Team and deliver a message of hope to the nation.
Jung Na-yeon, art content director and planner of this Horyeong exhibition, stated, “This exhibition, themed on the tiger as the representative guardian spirit of the Korean Peninsula, was prepared to convey messages of hope and encouragement to the entire nation. With 38 artists, including domestic masters, expressing the tiger’s energy through their unique artistic perspectives, we hope visitors will receive these messages of hope and encouragement.”
