"Looking for Abundant Housing Benefits for Youth and Newlyweds? Seoul City Publishes Guidebook"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] On the 14th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it has published a guidebook compiling housing support policies related to youth and newlyweds, which were previously scattered across various institutions.

The "Housing Support Project Guidebook for Youth and Newlyweds" focuses mainly on financial support and public housing. It includes not only projects promoted by the city but also financial and housing support projects from government agencies such as Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH), Housing and Urban Fund, Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF), and Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH), allowing for comparative analysis.

By target group, the guidebook is divided into youth, newlyweds, other age groups, and social classes, enabling users to easily find support projects that suit them. Youth are subdivided into ages 19-34 and 35-39, while newlyweds are categorized as those married within 7 years and those planning to marry within 6 months. Housing support projects available to age groups and classes not classified as youth or newlyweds are also introduced.

Among the projects led by the Seoul Metropolitan Government are the Youth Monthly Rent Support and the Youth and Newlywed Lease Deposit Interest Support projects. The Station Area Youth Housing is a unique city project. The guidebook introduces the eligibility, details, and procedures for these supports.

Public housing includes Happy Housing, Urban-Type Housing, and Station Area Youth Housing for youth aged 19-39, as well as Newlywed Purchase Rental Housing and Long-Term Security Housing for newlyweds. The Q&A section addresses frequently asked questions such as loan interest rates, income calculation criteria for loan applicants, and the possibility of additional loans.

The guidebook can be downloaded from the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s e-book platform and the notice section of the Seoul Housing Portal.

Kim Seongbo, Director of the Seoul Housing Policy Office, said, "Although various housing support projects for youth and newlyweds are operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the government, it has been difficult for individuals to easily find the projects they can apply for. We hope this guidebook will help citizens who wish to apply for housing support projects, and the city will continue to do its best to provide timely and useful information on housing support projects tailored to different classes and age groups."
