[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 13th, the People’s Party announced that presidential candidate Ahn Cheol-soo tested 'negative' for COVID-19.

The People’s Party informed reporters via text message that "Candidate Ahn received a 'negative' result from the COVID PCR test and has returned to work normally."

Ahn’s spouse, Professor Kim Mi-kyung of Seoul National University, tested positive for COVID-19. Originally, Candidate Ahn was scheduled to appear at the National Election Commission to complete the presidential candidacy procedures, but he canceled the planned schedule after Professor Kim tested positive.

On the same day, Candidate Ahn announced the news of Professor Kim’s positive diagnosis through a non-face-to-face real-time video broadcast. At this event, Ahn said, "To be honest, my wife has underlying health conditions," and added, "Her symptoms are worse than expected, so she is being transferred to the hospital."

Meanwhile, Candidate Ahn proposed unifying the opposition candidates through a public primary poll against Yoon Seok-youl, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, on the same day.
