Criticism of Ahn Cheol-soo's Proposal Using Expressions Like Old Stock and Gakseori Taryeong
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Jang Sung-min, Chairman of the World and Northeast Asia Peace Forum, criticized Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People’s Party, on the 13th for his unification proposal, calling it a "10-year-old recycled unification broth." Chairman Jang used expressions such as "old stock" and "wandering minstrel talk" to harshly condemn Ahn, who proposed unification through a public opinion poll against Yoon Seok-youl, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party.
On the same day, through social media (SNS), Chairman Jang said about Ahn’s unification proposal, "It seemed that Candidate Ahn was indeed in a hurry," but added, "He really hasn’t changed for 10 years."
Regarding this proposal, he pointed out, "It’s not ‘Anilhwa’ (a pun meaning unification with Ahn) but ‘Anbyeonhwa’ (no change by Ahn)," and said, "The only thing worth remembering in Ahn’s political record is that he always trades the unification card when the time comes." Chairman Jang said, "What comes to mind when thinking of Candidate Ahn is his role as a unification expert and a professional unification politician’s ‘peddler’ over the past 10 years," adding, "A candidate from a party with only three seats is claiming to be the unified opposition candidate and has again brought up unification through a public opinion poll. This is the true nature of his professional unification politics shown over the past decade."
Chairman Jang sarcastically remarked, "Every election season, he comes out and inflates the unification balloon, tying it to his cart with white string, then wanders around trying to sell the unification product, spying on which side might be more profitable, and then goes to that side to bargain for the ‘unification product.’ His old habit hasn’t changed at all from 10 years ago to now."
He continued, "If he brings out the 10-year-old recycled unification broth again and tells Candidate Yoon to drink it, would Yoon drink that broth that’s already spoiled?" He further said about this proposal, "It’s the rotten broth brewed 10 years ago that will immediately cause stomach upset. Let Candidate Ahn drink it all by himself."
Chairman Jang, who joined the People Power Party last year, participated in the presidential primary and has expressed his political stance from Candidate Yoon’s side during this presidential election phase.
