"All the Fur Wheels Must Be Caught and Burned..."
Cat Cruelty Evidence Posted Sparks Outrage

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Photos and videos showing the cruel abuse of stray cats, such as confining them in traps and burning them alive or breaking their legs, have been continuously posted in an online community gallery.

Amid a petition on the Blue House website requesting the closure of this gallery, a netizen suspected of carrying out the abuse recently posted a message saying, "I will catch and kill as many furry roaches as the number of petition supporters," sparking public outrage. 'Furry roach' is a derogatory term used in the gallery and elsewhere to refer to cats.

On the 31st of last month, this netizen wrote in the gallery, "I have been heavily criticized so far. I feel determined to catch and burn more furry roaches," adding, "My life goal has been set. I will catch as many furry roaches as the number of petition supporters, tag them with numbers, and definitely burn them. Please look forward to it."

Earlier, on the 28th of the same month, a video was posted in the gallery, presumed to be by the same netizen, showing a cat trapped in a cage with a torch set to its face. The cat was confined and unable to escape, helplessly enduring the hot flames. There was also a video showing a stray cat desperately crawling away with a broken leg.

In response, a petition titled "Please close the gallery that abuses stray cats and conduct a thorough investigation" was posted on the Blue House petition board.

The petitioner stated, "Last year, videos showing cats being cruelly abused and killed were uploaded to a certain gallery as if broadcasted live, leading to a national petition and the gallery's closure. However, most users who continued the cruel abuse there remained anonymous and were not caught, and they are now gathering in a gallery on the same site, posting several abuse videos daily."

The petitioner added, "The author who posted the abuse videos at that time admitted, 'I personally committed the abuse,' and even announced the date for posting the next abuse video. Many people reported this, but the author mocked them, saying, 'I purchased a paid IP conversion program, so you will never catch me.'"

They continued, "There were photos of cats struggling so violently inside illegally set traps that their faces were covered in blood, posted to mock them, and even videos of cats being fed rat poison. Every time a cat abuse video is uploaded, they recommend and praise each other, encouraging even more brutal abuse," urging, "Closing the gallery is important, but a thorough investigation is necessary to prevent recurrence."
