Kim Jong-in Meets Lee Jae-myung: "No Comments... No Special Interest Needed" [Image source=Yonhap News]

[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] Former People Power Party (PPP) Chief Election Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in revealed about his meeting with Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, that "there was nothing special to talk about, so I have nothing to say."

On the morning of the 7th, Kim met with reporters at his private office in Gwanghwamun and stated, "Why is there so much interest just because we met once?"

In particular, when asked by reporters whether Lee requested any support, Kim remained tight-lipped. When asked what advice he gave, he replied, "Just some casual chatter," adding, "I have nothing to say." Regarding the various interpretations circulating in political circles about the meeting with Lee, he bluntly said, "There is no need to pay special attention."

Meanwhile, Lee held a surprise private meeting with Kim the previous evening. This has raised the possibility that Kim, who supported People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl until early this year, might support Lee. The meeting lasted about 1 hour and 20 minutes, from 8:00 PM to 9:20 PM. Previously, Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, also met Kim privately last month.
