A Man in His 20s Arrested for Sexually Assaulting a Teenager Met on SNS

Charges of Statutory Rape and Forced Molestation Involving a Minor

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man in his 20s has been arrested by the police on charges of sexually assaulting and forcibly molesting a teenage minor.

The Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced on the 7th that they have arrested Mr. A (23) on charges of statutory rape and forcible molestation of a minor and are currently investigating him.

Mr. A is accused of forcibly molesting the teenage victim, Ms. B, inside her residence building in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 4th. He is also charged with having sexual intercourse with Ms. B at a motel in Songpa-gu around 2 p.m. on December 18 of last year.

The police responded to a report from Ms. B’s family at approximately 8:50 p.m. on the 4th and arrested Mr. A in the act.

During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated that he met Ms. B through social networking services (SNS). A police official stated, "A detention warrant was issued on the 6th, and he will soon be transferred to the prosecution."
