IT Tipster Kim Dohyeon Reveals
Color-Specific Rendering Video Released
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] With the '2022 Galaxy Unpacked (New Product Launch)' event just four days away, 360-degree rendering videos of the three Galaxy S22 series models (Standard, Plus, Ultra) have also been released.
According to industry sources on the 6th, Korean IT tipster Kim Do-hyun posted 360-degree rendering images of the three S22 series models in various colors on Twitter that morning.
Based on the leaked information so far, the S22 Standard and Plus models will be released in four colors: Green, Phantom Black, Phantom White, and Pink Gold. The S22 Ultra model is expected to come in Green, Phantom Black, Phantom White, and Burgundy colors.
The Standard model features a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate on a 6.1-inch AMOLED (Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display. The smartphone is equipped with a 10MP selfie camera, and the rear camera is presumed to be a triple camera setup. It is observed to use a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The application processor (AP), often referred to as the 'brain' of the smartphone, is expected to vary by sales region. IT specialist publication LetsGoDigital reported, "In Europe, it will be powered by the Exynos 2200 system-on-chip (SoC), while other regions are likely to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1." The battery capacity is likely to be 3700mAh.
The Plus model is estimated to have similar hardware, software, and camera specifications as the Standard model. The distinguishing factors are the display size and battery capacity. The Plus model will feature a 6.6-inch AMOLED display and a 4500mAh battery. Both S series models are expected to be slightly smaller than their predecessors. Regarding charging speed, while the Standard model supports 25W fast charging, the Plus model has the advantage of supporting up to 45W charging.
The top-tier Ultra model is equipped with the largest 6.8-inch AMOLED display. It differentiates itself from the two lower models with rounded corners and QHD+ resolution. It supports an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. The front camera is a 10MP selfie camera, but the rear quad-camera setup has been upgraded compared to the previous generation. It includes a 108MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and two 10MP telephoto cameras with 3x and 10x zoom capabilities. Notably, it is presumed to inherit the Galaxy Note series by integrating a stylus pen (S Pen) into the bottom of the device. The new S Pen is expected to significantly reduce latency to just 2.8ms, compared to 9ms in the previous Note model. It features a long-lasting 5000mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging.
Meanwhile, Samsung officially announced on the 26th of last month through a video invitation that the Unpacked event will be held online on February 9 at midnight Korean time (February 9 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time, USA). General consumers can watch it on the Samsung Newsroom and Samsung Electronics website. Samsung added in the invitation, "Breaking the existing rules, we will unveil the Galaxy S series that sets the standard for the next-generation mobile experience."
