Wednesday Protest Held on the Last Day of Seol Holiday

On the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday, February 2, the 1529th regular Wednesday demonstration to resolve the issue of Japanese military sexual slavery was held in front of Somerset Palace Seoul near the former Japanese Embassy in Jongno-gu, Seoul, hosted by the Justice and Memory Foundation. In front of the Statue of Peace, members of the Anti-Japan Action held a rally related to resolving the issue of Japanese military sexual slavery. A counter-rally opposing this was also held across the police barricades. Conservative groups such as the National Enlightenment Movement Headquarters demanded the suspension of the Wednesday demonstrations, the disbandment of the Justice and Memory Foundation, and the removal of the Statue of Peace. The police deployed about 100 officers between the Wednesday demonstration and the conservative groups' rally, and the gatherings concluded without any clashes.
