Installation and Operation of 'Rapid Antigen Testing Site' at Gwangjin-gu Office from January 29... All Staff to Receive Vaccination Before Lunar New Year Travel to Other Regions and Self-Diagnosis Testing Before Returning to Work
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) swiftly installed a ‘Rapid Antigen Testing Center’ within the district office and began operations on the 29th of last month, in response to significant changes in the quarantine and medical system starting from the Lunar New Year holiday.
At the public health center’s screening clinic, PCR tests are immediately conducted only for high-risk groups such as those aged 60 and above and those who test positive with self-test kits; others will receive PCR tests only if they test positive on the rapid antigen test.
On the 29th of last month, when the rapid antigen testing center began operation, Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Seon-gap personally visited the testing site even during the Lunar New Year holiday.
On that day, Mayor Kim carefully inspected the rapid antigen testing center to minimize inconvenience to residents and took time to communicate with the residents who visited the testing site.
He also encouraged and expressed gratitude to the staff working during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “Residents may feel anxious due to the sudden change in the testing system. Gwangjin-gu prioritizes ‘the safety of residents’ and will establish a thorough quarantine system to restore daily life as soon as possible.”
He continued, “I hope all residents refrain from unnecessary movement as much as possible and wear KF80 or higher masks properly, as the Omicron virus has a strong transmission power, to have a healthy and safe Lunar New Year holiday.”
The ‘Gwangjin-gu Rapid Antigen Testing Center’ is located near the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center’s screening clinic to enable immediate PCR testing upon a positive result and consists of ▲Reception and Information Desk ▲Self-Test Area ▲Result Confirmation and Certificate Issuance Desk.
In particular, about 20 self-test subjects can be tested simultaneously, which is expected to reduce waiting times compared to the existing screening clinic.
Along with this, Gwangjin-gu has strengthened ‘Special Duty Management for the Lunar New Year Holiday’ in response to the rapid increase in confirmed cases due to Omicron.
Accordingly, the district distributed 2,190 self-diagnosis kits so that all employees can undergo COVID-19 testing before returning to work after the Lunar New Year holiday.
If the test result is negative, employees can report to work as usual; if positive, they must visit the screening clinic for a PCR test.
This testing is being promoted to detect asymptomatic and latent infections early, proactively protect all employees, and prevent transmission to the local community.
Additionally, residents are advised to refrain from private gatherings including visits to hometowns, travel, and meetings with unvaccinated relatives and acquaintances.
In unavoidable cases, it is requested to travel in small groups after vaccination and minimize the time spent at multi-use facilities such as rest areas with high foot traffic during travel.
Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “Although all employees are maintaining a meticulous quarantine system and following preventive measures for residents’ safety, considering the strong transmissibility of the Omicron virus, we decided to respond proactively as heightened awareness of personal quarantine is necessary.”
