[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the morning of the 26th, Cha Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, attended the ‘Seollal Love Essential Goods Sharing Event’ hosted by the Yeongdeungpo-gu Social Welfare Council at the Food Market located in the annex of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office, where he packed Seollal food for low-income residents.
At the event, essential goods such as health functional foods, masks, and first aid kits sponsored by companies and organizations were delivered to social welfare facilities in the area. Seollal foods including jeon (Korean pancakes), rice cake soup rice cakes, and strawberries were shared with low-income residents visiting the food bank and market.
Mayor Cha Hyun-il said, “We will do our best to deliver the warmth of sharing throughout Yeongdeungpo so that no citizen is left out, creating a Yeongdeungpo where all citizens live happily together.”
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) conducted training for managers and staff on the 26th ahead of the full enforcement of the ‘Serious Accident Punishment Act’ on the 27th.
This training was organized to raise safety awareness among safety managers and employees of each department and institution in line with the enforcement of the ‘Serious Accident Punishment Act.’
About 150 people attended the training, including heads of departments under the district office, safety supervisors of each department (dong), safety managers of the health center and invested/affiliated institutions (Cultural Foundation, Facilities Management Corporation), environmental officers and public employee union officials, cleaning subcontractor representatives, facility managers of each center, and those in charge of subcontracting, outsourcing, and consignment affairs.
The training was conducted by Bae Yeon-jik, an industrial safety instructor who is the representative of ‘People and Safety’ consulting and a senior certified labor attorney of ‘People and Industrial Accidents.’
The approximately two-hour training covered topics such as ‘Public institution obligations and legal regulations under the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act’ and ‘Safety and health management methods for workers by managers and supervisors.’
Last year, Geumcheon-gu established an industrial accident safety team (TF) in the Administrative Support Division to oversee serious industrial accidents and reinforced personnel in the Safety City Division to handle serious citizen accidents, thereby establishing a response system for serious accident management.
Going forward, Geumcheon-gu plans to systematically manage a series of processes for accident prevention, response, and improvement measures based on a comprehensive serious accident prevention plan and manual.
Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon, who attended the training, said, “Even small accidents or risks should not be overlooked, and by responding diligently in daily life, major accidents or disasters can be prevented. I ask everyone to pay special attention to preventing safety accidents through active communication with on-site workers and thorough safety inspections.”
Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family on the 25th to be designated as a ‘Women-Friendly City.’
The signing ceremony was held online for one hour in the 9th-floor video conference room of Yongsan-gu Office, proceeding in the order of awarding excellent local governments, signing the agreement, and introducing representative projects.
The district was newly designated as a Women-Friendly City in 2021 and plans to promote projects for five years from 2022 to 2026, including ▲establishing a foundation for gender equality policy promotion ▲expanding women’s economic and social participation ▲enhancing community safety ▲creating family-friendly and caregiving environments.
Mayor Seong Jang-hyun said, “We will actively cooperate with related organizations, not only promoting projects by sector but also striving to discover new projects. Under the slogan ‘Yongsan, a Women-Friendly City Where Everyone’s Happiness Is Realized,’ we will take the lead in creating a gender-equal community.”
Heungcheonsa Temple (Chief Monk Gakmil), a traditional temple located in Donam-dong, Seongbuk-gu, donated 10 million won to Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) to support warm Seollal celebrations for neighbors in need.
Heungcheonsa, a traditional temple with a 625-year history, continuously practices compassion for vulnerable groups in Seongbuk-gu. Seongbuk-gu awarded a certificate of appreciation in recognition of this.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk-gu said, “Although this is a difficult time for everyone due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and cold waves, many people are rekindling hope in their hearts thanks to Heungcheonsa’s compassion. We are grateful for the compassion of Heungcheonsa and the Buddhist community for vulnerable groups, and we will do our best to promptly deliver the donation to where it is most needed.”
Singer Lee Sun-hee’s fan club and Matjeong Co., Ltd. delivered consolation goods to the Yongsan Welfare Foundation on the 25th to share the holiday with marginalized neighbors.
The donated items include 40 sets of fruit and 50 rice cake soup rice cakes, which will be distributed to low-income households in Hangangno-dong, Ichon 1 and 2-dong, Itaewon 1 and 2-dong, Hannam-dong, Seobinggo-dong, and Bogwang-dong community centers.
Fan club members said, “We want to share the love of fans supporting singer Lee Sun-hee with the local community. We hope our warm hearts reach marginalized neighbors so they can have a rich holiday.”
Lee Sang-yong, director of the Yongsan Welfare Foundation, said, “We thank Lee Sun-hee’s fan club for continuing their sharing activities, and we will carefully deliver the donated items to residents in need.”
Since signing an agreement with the Yongsan Welfare Foundation in September 2020 to support holiday (Seollal and Chuseok) consolation goods, Lee Sun-hee’s fan club has continued donations and actively practiced sharing with marginalized neighbors in the community.
