[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] It was recently revealed that three police officers at a nightlife establishment in Jinan, Jeonbuk, violated quarantine rules by holding a drinking party past the business restriction time of 9 p.m.
According to the Jeonbuk Police Agency on the 25th, around 9:41 p.m. on December 24 last year, three police officers from the Jinan Police Station were caught drinking with six civilians at a pub in Jinan during a crackdown.
At the time, the business restriction time in the Jeonbuk area was 9 p.m., and the limit for private gatherings was up to four people; however, to evade the crackdown, they split into groups of four and five and drank in separate rooms.
The establishment was identified as a nightlife facility equipped with sound equipment inside the rooms for customer service.
Police who responded to the report confirmed the situation on site and booked those caught on charges of "violating the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act."
The apprehended police officers reportedly said they were unaware that so much time had passed.
A Jeonbuk Police Agency official stated, "It is difficult to disclose the identities of those who were with the police officers as it is an ongoing investigation," adding, "We take this matter seriously and will conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action."
