Providing 100,000 Won in Local Gift Certificates to Approximately 23,000 Residents
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County will provide 100,000 won as the 3rd disaster basic income to help stabilize the lives of residents and revitalize the stagnant local economy ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
On the 24th, Muju County Governor Hwang In-hong held a press conference in the briefing room and stated, "Based on the Muju County Disaster Basic Income Support Ordinance and Article 3 of the Multicultural Family Support Act, we will invest about 2.3 billion won from the contingency fund for disaster and calamity purposes."
The beneficiaries include about 23,000 residents registered as of January 18, including marriage immigrants without nationality.
Muju County officials (386 village officers) will visit each household directly on the 27th and 28th to deliver 100,000 won worth of Muju Love Gift Certificates.
Governor Hwang emphasized, "I sincerely hope this will give 'trust' that we understand each other's difficulties and 'confidence' that we will overcome them together. The approximately 2.3 billion won circulating throughout Muju County when the gift certificates are spent will serve as a catalyst to unblock the county's tightly constrained economy."
Governor Hwang also urged, "To protect clean Muju and the health of yourself, your family, and neighbors, please practice social distancing, personal hygiene, and comply with quarantine rules, demonstrating mature civic awareness. The county will do its best to overcome COVID-19 and support the residents of Muju."
