[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin, Legal Affairs Specialist] The Seoul Bar Association (President Kim Jung-wook) will award the Excellent Member of the National Assembly Award to four members: Kim Byung-gi and Oh Young-hwan of the Democratic Party, and Kim Hyung-dong and Park Sung-joong of the People Power Party.
The Seoul Bar Association will hold its 2022 regular general meeting at 5 p.m. on the 24th in the basement level 1 of the Bar Association Hall in Seocho-dong, Seoul, where it will present awards including the Excellent Member of the National Assembly Award, Special Award, and Excellent Legal Journalist Award.
First, the four members including Kim were selected as excellent members of the 21st National Assembly for their contributions to the realization of an advanced political culture and legislative and parliamentary activities. A special award will be given to Kim Ho-pyung, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, who contributed to the creation of a legal culture such as improving the treatment of legal advisors and the actualization of legal advisory fees as a legal advisor to the 10th Seoul Metropolitan Council.
The Excellent Legal Journalist Award, given to journalists who contribute to the spread of the rule of law and the development of legal culture in Korea by practicing conscientious and factual journalism to guarantee the public's right to know, will be awarded to Cho Sang-hee, Social Affairs Chief at Aju Economy, and Park Sang-jun, reporter at Dong-A Ilbo.
In addition, the Seoul Bar Association will award the Myeongdeok Award to lawyer Jang Su-gil, who has greatly contributed to human rights advocacy and social justice realization over 47 years of legal practice, and the Public Service Award to lawyer Hwang In-gyu, who has devotedly carried out various public interest activities contributing to the achievement of the Seoul Bar Association's purpose of existence.
Also, the Baekro Award will be given to lawyers Kim Sun-ho, Kim Yeon-ho, Kim Yong-gyun, Kim Jong-gil, Kim Jong-hwa, Moon Hyung-sik, Min Kyung-sik, Oh Se-chang, Yoon Bae-gyeong, and Lee Ki-young, who have served as role models for legal professionals for over 30 years. The Merit Award will be presented to lawyers Kim Byung-ho, Park Jong-bok, Bae In-gu, Jang Sung-won, Choi Woong-sik, and Han Young-hwa, who have contributed to the development of the Seoul Bar Association through active activities. Commendations will be given to lawyers Kwak Hyang-gi, Park Seung-gil, Ban Hyung-geol, Lee Yun-woo, Cha Sang-jin, and Ha Chae-eun, respectively.
