Soongsil Cyber University, Additional Recruitment for New and Transfer Students in the 2022 First Semester North Korean Defector Admission Track

Sungshin Cyber University (President Han Heon-su) is launching an additional recruitment for new and transfer students under the North Korean Defector Admission Track for the first semester of the 2022 academic year.

Sungshin Cyber University is conducting additional recruitment for new and transfer students from January 21 to February 15, covering a total of 11 admission tracks including the North Korean Defector Admission Track, General Admission Track, Bachelor's Transfer Track, Industry Commissioned Track, Military Commissioned Track, Central Government Official Commissioned Track, Equal Educational Opportunity Track, Disability Track, Rural Special Track, Foreign Student Track, and Overseas Korean Track.

The North Korean Defector Admission Track is designed for registered North Korean defectors, allowing them to earn the required credits for a regular 4-year bachelor's degree and nationally certified qualifications entirely through online classes and exams. It is divided into freshman admission and 2nd and 3rd-year transfer admission. Eligible applicants include high school graduates or those recognized by law as having equivalent academic ability, registered North Korean defectors who have completed 12 or more years of education including domestic or overseas high schools, and who can submit proof of this.

Kwok Ji-young, Director of Admissions at Sungshin Cyber University, stated, “Our university operates the North Korean Defector Admission Track to support the stable life and settlement of North Korean defectors through education.” She added, “We also run special scholarship programs such as the Hangeure Scholarship, which fully waives tuition for education protection beneficiaries among successful applicants of the North Korean Defector Admission Track, and the Tongil Sungshin Scholarship, which offers a 50% tuition waiver for those whose education protection status has expired, resulting in high satisfaction among students from North Korean defector backgrounds.”

Meanwhile, Sungshin Cyber University, which practices ‘Truth’ and ‘Service’ based on Christian values and has established itself as a leading ethnic private university in online education, is accelerating the construction of a smart campus utilizing advanced technologies such as a powerful e-learning system and cutting-edge mobile LMS in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.

The university operates a unique program that allows credit exchange with about 70 offline universities in Korea including Sungshin University and Yonsei University, offers free lectures for all courses during enrollment, and provides lifelong free access to major courses even after graduation.

Additionally, to minimize students’ financial burden, the university sets tuition fees at about one-quarter the level of general offline universities and operates various internal scholarship programs including admission, general, academic performance, clergy, military, industry-commissioned education, disability, and equal educational opportunity scholarships. All scholarship recipients also receive dual benefits from the Korea Student Aid Foundation’s national scholarships.

Meanwhile, Sungshin Cyber University announced the successful candidates for the regular admission of new and transfer students for the first semester of 2022 on January 17, which recorded the highest number of applicants ever. For applicants who missed the regular admission period, additional recruitment is being conducted from January 21 to February 15.
