[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Chang-hyun) is recruiting 12 youth interns to train specialized personnel in museum and craft mediation. This is to support youth employment by providing work opportunities in the same field.

The "Museum Expert Training Project" has been continuously promoted by the district for four years since being selected as a Seoul-type New Deal Job Project in 2019. Especially this year, the "Craft Mediation Personnel Expert Training Project" was additionally selected as a New Deal Job Project, increasing the number of youth interns recruited from 8 last year to 12.

Youth interns are selected from majors related to museums and crafts. After selection, they will work at ▲National Museum of Korea (7 people) ▲Yongsan History Museum (2 people) ▲Lee Bong-chang Memorial Hall (1 person) ▲Yongsan Craft Center (2 people).

Youth interns assigned to the National Museum of Korea will be involved in publicity, marketing, international exchange, exhibitions, education, exhibition design, and library operations. Those working at Yongsan History Museum and Lee Bong-chang Memorial Hall will support or directly handle exhibitions, research, education, and artifact organization. Those at Yongsan Craft Center will perform sales, publicity, education, and exhibition tasks.

A district official said, "The museum and craft fields are representative areas where it is difficult to find employment related to one's major," adding, "This project is a great opportunity to gain field experience and build networks in related fields."

The youth intern work period is 10 months, from March 2 to December 31. The principle is 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. The daily wage is 86,160 KRW. Weekly holiday allowance is paid separately.

Youth aged 18 to 39 residing in Seoul as of the announcement date (January 19) can visit Yongsan-gu Office during the application period (January 26 to February 4) to submit application documents. Qualification requirements and screening schedules by workplace can be checked on the Yongsan-gu website recruitment announcement board.

Seong Chang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "Our youth are not lacking in ability, only in opportunity," and "We will steadily promote planned projects so that young people can smoothly find employment."

The youth job projects planned by the district for 2022 include ▲job experience-type intern programs ▲employment support programs ▲youth job creation subsidy projects ▲expert training linked employment support ▲public-private cooperation job creation contest projects.

Yongsan-gu Recruiting 12 Young Interns for Museum and Craft Center... Gwangjin-gu Provides Up to 7.38 Million Won Support Until First Birthday for Children Born This Year

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) will provide up to 7.38 million KRW per newborn for all babies born from January 1 this year.

The district is launching various new projects for the healthy birth and welfare of children and mothers, such as the newly established "First Meeting Voucher" and "Infant Allowance," and "Gwangjin Child Life First Cut."

Additionally, the district has strengthened various childbirth support policies to overcome the low birthrate era by increasing the support ratio for "Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package for Pregnant Women" and expanding the age range for "Child Allowance" payments.

First, during pregnancy, the "Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package Support Project for Pregnant Women" provides eco-friendly agricultural products to pregnant women to help healthy childbirth for the fetus and mother.

This project, which supports up to 480,000 KRW for purchasing eco-friendly agricultural product packages for one year for mothers or pregnant women who gave birth after January last year, can be applied for through Ecoimall starting from 10 a.m. on February 7, with a first-come, first-served limit of 462 people.

After birth, the newly introduced "First Meeting Voucher" can be applied for. The First Meeting Voucher is financial support to reduce the economic burden of raising a child and provide practical help to families with newborns. From January this year, all infants who have been assigned a resident registration number are eligible for 2 million KRW per child regardless of whether they are twins or the birth order such as first or second child.

Also, a new "Infant Allowance" has been established for newborns. For infants aged 0 to 23 months who are cared for at home and born after January this year, 300,000 KRW per month will be paid, totaling 3.6 million KRW annually.

Along with this, "Child Allowance" is also provided. Until last year, Child Allowance was paid to children under 7 years old, but from January this year, it has been expanded to all children under 8 years old, with 100,000 KRW per month totaling 1.2 million KRW annually.

The First Meeting Voucher, Infant Allowance, and Child Allowance can be applied for by visiting the local community service center in person or online through Bokjiro or Government24.

Additionally, for children celebrating their first birthday, support for first birthday photo shooting expenses is provided. The "Gwangjin Child Life First Cut Support Project" supports up to 100,000 KRW for 600 infants born after January last year residing in Gwangjin-gu. Applications can be submitted by visiting the local community service center with the application form and supporting documents by March 16.

Moreover, the district has various other projects such as free naming services for newborns and rental services for 100-day and first birthday tables.

Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "I hope the policies promoted by the district will be a welcome gift that provides practical help to families with newborns," and "We will actively promote projects that residents can feel to create a happy childcare environment for everyone."
