[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The fire that broke out yesterday afternoon at the Ulsan Hyosung TNC factory has continued through the night despite firefighting efforts and is still burning as of early morning on the 24th, more than 12 hours later.

According to the Ulsan Fire Department, the fire started around 6:55 PM on the 23rd at the Bangsa-dong building of the Hyosung TNC factory in Nam-gu.

Two employees who were initially trying to extinguish the fire inhaled smoke and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The factory building where the fire occurred is a total of 27,141㎡ in size, spanning from one basement floor to six floors above ground. It is known as a factory that melts polymer materials to draw out fine fibers.

The fire authorities estimate that the flames started in the air conditioning room on the basement first floor of the building and spread to the upper floors through the ducts.

Subsequently, the fire appears to have expanded as it spread from the Bangsa-dong building to an adjacent finished product storage warehouse.

Upon the outbreak of the fire, the fire department declared Response Level 1, mobilizing all personnel and equipment, and at 10:36 PM, they issued Response Level 2, calling in firefighting forces from neighboring fire stations.

They also requested joint response assistance from the fire departments of Busan, Gyeongnam, and Gyeongbuk.

So far, about 700 firefighters and around 80 firefighting vehicles and equipment have been deployed to carry out firefighting operations.
