[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Around 3:10 PM on the 23rd, a fire broke out along with an explosion of machinery equipment at a silicon powder manufacturing factory in Dunpo-myeon, Asan-si, Chungnam.
Due to the fire, a man in his 40s operating the equipment suffered burns on his face and other areas and was transported to a hospital. Part of the factory's exterior wall made of sandwich panels was also damaged.
The fire scorched the factory roof and was extinguished within 35 minutes.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire based on statements from factory employees indicating that dust inside the silicon powder drying equipment likely exploded.
