Yoon "No Intention to Resign"
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] On the 22nd, Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, dismissed North Korean media's demand for his "resignation" on Facebook, stating, "I have no intention of resigning. The people of the Republic of Korea come first."
This appears to be a response to the North Korean propaganda media outlet "Tongil-ui Meori" mentioning Yoon's resignation on the same day. The outlet reported, "The media sarcastically said that Yoon Seok-yeol, who advocates for a preemptive strike against North Korea, should stop provoking inter-Korean confrontation with outdated colorism and quietly resign from his candidacy, realizing that it is the way to save himself."
Earlier, Yoon held a New Year's press conference and stated that if North Korea shows signs of provocation with nuclear-armed hypersonic missiles, "there is no way to stop it other than a preemptive strike." On the 14th, he also left a message regarding North Korean missile provocations, saying, "The main enemy is North Korea."
