[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The Hong Kong court has convicted nine participants in the anti-extradition law protests, known as the "Extradition Law," on criminal extradition charges.
According to major foreign media on the 22nd, the Hong Kong court found nine out of ten people charged with participating in the protests guilty. They were arrested after participating in the Hong Kong anti-extradition law protest on August 11, 2019, which involved about 2,000 participants. The court explained that the specific sentences would be decided after reviewing many documents during detention.
On the 15th, the Hong Kong court also sentenced seven people involved in the November 2019 "Hong Kong Polytechnic University Occupation Protest" to prison terms of 38 to 40 months. Two minors were sent to correctional facilities.
